Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson will undergo surgery next week to remove a brain tumor, forcing the Swedish duo to cancel its planned European tour, according to a spokesperson. Doctors found the small tumor after Fredriksson fainted and hit her head against a sink two weeks ago at her Stockholm home.

The 44-year-old singer has recovered from the concussion she suffered, but doctors at Karolinska Hospital in the Swedish capital have decided to take her in for brain surgery within 10 days.

The duo, which is rounded out by Per Gessle, was due to kick off a two-month tour Oct. 25 with a 14-night stand in Antwerp and a 10-night run in Rotterdam. Roxette's album "Room Service" was released in April 2001 in Europe via EMI and Edel America in the U.S.
