Kylie Minogue, Eminem, Pink, Coldplay, Shakira, and Enrique Iglesias each notched four nominations for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, to be held Nov. 14 at Barcelona's Palau Sant Jordi. The ceremony, which will be hosted by Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, will also feature performances by Robbie Williams, Wyclef Jean, Coldplay, Iglesias, and Pink.
This year's edition is the first MTV Europe Awards for which six artists co-lead the nominations. Minogue, Pink, and Shakira will all vie for best female act and best pop act, while the former two are battling for best album (for "Fever" (Capitol) and "M!ssundaztood" (Arista), respectively).
Eminem and Iglesias square off in the best male act competition, while the Detroit rapper's multi-platinum "The Eminem Show" (Interscope) set contends with Coldplay's "A Rush of Blood to the Head" (Capitol) in the best album category. Eminem is also up for best hip-hop act and best video ("Without Me"). Iglesias and Coldplay also will contend for regional awards -- the former for best Spanish act and the latter for best U.K. & Ireland act.
Fans can vote for winners through the MTVEurope.com site, although the award for best video will be chosen by MTV Europe employees.
Last year's big winner was Limp Bizkit, who pulled down three awards including best group and best album for the Interscope release "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water." Gorillaz and Craig David picked up two awards each.
