Dashboard Confessional, which launches a North American tour tonight (Oct. 1) near its homebase in West Palm Beach, Fla., has posted two versions of a new song for download on its official Web site. The exclusive web release of "Tonight I'll Take What I Can Get," appears in acoustic and full band versions.

"We demo-ed this new song in our practice space and we didn't want to wait to give it to you, so here are a couple of versions," writes frontman Chris Carrabba. A long-awaited new studio album is expected from the band sometime in 2003.

In the interim, Vagrant Records has announced a Dec. 3 release date for "Dashboard Confessional Unplugged." Recorded earlier this year for MTV2's acoustic concert series, the package will contain both an audio CD and a DVD of the performance.

Vagrant label mates Hot Rod Circuit join Dashboard for the entire tour, with additional support from Irish punk/pop trio Ash, who will be on the trek through Oct. 17 in Toronto. Old 97's frontman Rhett Miller replaces Ash the following night in Detroit. For the full itinerary, visit Dashboard's Web site.

The group is touring in support of its latest Vagrant album "The Places You Have Come To Fear the Most," which spent three weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and has sold 316,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
