As tipped here in August, David Bowie will on Nov. 19 release a "Best Of" DVD package, following the Oct. 22 release of EMI's "Best of Bowie" collections. The double-DVD set will collect all of Bowie's music videos (47 in all) alongside concert footage and live TV performances.

The chronologically sequenced DVD package spans Bowie's celluloid career, from performances of "Oh! You Pretty Thing," "Queen Bitch," and "Five Years" on the revered U.K. TV program "The Old Grey Whistle Test" up through clips for "Thursday's Child" and "Survive," drawn from the 1999 Virgin set "Hours." It includes live performances such as "Young Americans" on "The Dick Cavett Show" and "Starman" on "Top of the Pops," as well as hidden surprises.

The DVD augments the "Best of Bowie" audio CDs, for which 16 different versions of the career-spanning greatest-hits set will be created for different markets. In the U.S., "Best of Bowie" will be available in a 20-track single-disc version and a 40-song double-disc set, both ordered chronologically. Worldwide, countries will get unique versions with track listings tailored to reflect Bowie's most popular work in specific regions. The flag of each nation will appear on the spine of its custom disc.

Bowie's latest studio album, "Heathen" (Columbia/ISO), debuted at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 in June and has sold 180,000 copies in the U.S. to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The artist is in the midst of a series of concerts in New York's five boroughs dubbed the New York City Marathon tour. He plays Queens' College Golden Center Wednesday (Oct. 16). He is also set to perform tomorrow night (Oct. 15) at the 2002 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards at New York's Radio City Music Hall.
