Details of the "bonus world" Tori Amos fans will have access to following the purchase of her forthcoming Epic album, "Scarlet's Walk," have begun to emerge. Utilizing Epic parent Sony's proprietary ConnecteD technology as a key, the disc -- due Tuesday (Oct. 29) -- will unlock an area on Amos' official Web site that will host everything from music to photos, contests, and commentary by the artist.
Once linked to "Scarlet's Web" by using the disc in a computer's DVD-ROM drive, users will encounter a trio of maps to aid in navigation through a wide array of bonus features. Epic promises fans will find several songs that are not included on "Scarlet's Walk," lyrics, and a track-by-track commentary by Amos. Behind-the-scenes video and photos from the album's recording sessions, mini-movies, and stories will also reside on the site.
Also planned are contests for premium tickets to Amos' upcoming North American tour, which will kick off Nov. 7 in Tampa, Fla. Those who can't wait for the trek to reach their market will have access to live recordings that will be made available exclusively through the site.
"I wanted people to be able to discover for themselves the journey that Scarlet and I are taking," Amos said in a statement. "In 'Scarlet's Web' you will be able to unlock the inner most details of this fantastic voyage, as well as a few special surprises along the way."
In addition to the online extras, a limited edition package of "Scarlet's Walk" will be released the same day as the regular disc (each will offer access to the "Scarlet's Web" site.) The special version of the album will include "an exclusive DVD, Polaroid's, stickers, [and] a charm," according to the label.
On Friday, selections from the album will be streamed via a special page on Amos' Web site (www.toriamos.com/virtualinstore) for 24 hours beginning at 1 p.m. ET. At 7 p.m. ET that day, Amos will take part in a live online chat with fans about the album and tour. The site will also offer the opportunity to pre-order the album via online retailers worldwide.
