Singer/songwriter John Mayer will hit the road next month for a run through colleges and theaters, beginning Nov. 7 in Pompano Beach, Fla. The first eight dates on the tour will feature support from Robert Randolph & the Family Band; another five shows will boast bluegrass ensemble Nickel Creek in the opening slot.

This will be Mayer's second U.S. tour in support of his Aware/Columbia album "Room for Squares." Released in June 2001, the album peaked last month at No. 15 on The Billboard 200, 37 weeks after it first hit the chart. The album, which is No. 26 this week on the tally, has sold 1.4 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Randolph & the Family Band are touring in support of the April release "Live at the Wetlands" (Dare/Warner Bros.) and Nickel Creek, meanwhile, released its second album, "This Side," in August via Sugar Hill. The latter debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums chart and No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart.
