"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" could very well be the mantra DJ/producer Roni Size lives by.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" could very well be the mantra DJ/producer Roni Size lives by. Size's solo debut doesn't stray too far from his Roni Size/ Reprazent roots. In fact, Touching Down is more or less a return to instrumental stylings of the group's opus New Forms. More about the whole, rather than the sum of its parts, Touching Down is a fluid set that moves from track to track with little or no delineation. As a result, the album is, at times, redundant. However, Touching Down does hit high notes: the chaos of "Vocoda Funk" and the hip-hop touches of "Feel the Heat." Not for the passing drum'n'bass fan, Touching Down is likely to only touch hardcore Roni Size disciples.—RH
