R&B artist Blu Cantrell has set a Dec. 17 release date for her sophomore Arista effort "Bittersweet," which is being completed this week. First single "Breathe" is due imminently at U.S. radio outlets, and a video directed by Hype Williams (DMX, P. Diddy) is being wrapped up.

While a full track list is not yet available, in addition to "Breathe," songs on the new album include the more dance-oriented "Happily Every After," and soul ballads "Sleep in the Middle" and "Unhappy." The singer will promote the release with a heavy promo tour throughout the latter half of November and early December, culminating in a Dec. 18 appearance on "Live With Regis & Kelly." A spokesperson says details are still being discussed for a full tour sometime next year.

The album follows the success of Cantrell's debut "So Blu," which peaked in August 2001 at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 601,000 units in the U.S, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "So Blu" spawned the hit single "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)," which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 100.
