Cross-cultural music star Manu Chao will release his first DVD, "Babylonia En Guagua," Jan. 28 via Virgin. The DVD will boast 25 songs recorded live at Chao's Sept. 4-5, 2001, concerts at Paris' Grand Hall de la Villette. It also features a number of short films, highlighted by a 52-minute road movie directed by Raphael Frydman, which incorporates behind-the-scenes footage of Chao and his band, Radio Bemba Sound System.

A 10-minute short directed by Marc Boucherot and Nicolas Menet is also included, as is Chao's directorial debut, a 26-minute short film.

The DVD is a companion piece to "The Live Album" (Virgin), which was released in September and last month reached No. 3 on Billboard's Top World Music Albums tally. The set culled tracks from the same concerts as the DVD, which will be released around the world with subtitle options in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The DVD track selection includes an assortment of covers and traditional tunes alongside cuts from Chao's 1998 "Clandestino" album as well as last year's "Proxima Estacion...Esperanza," which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart.
