Internationally renowned DJ Paul Van Dyk will on Feb. 11 release "Global," a double-disc collection spanning his decade-long career. The Mute set will feature an audio CD with 11 restructured "hits" from Van Dyk's career and two previously unreleased tracks, alongside a DVD with live footage, music videos, interview snippets, and more.
"I wanted to create something which is technically up-to-date and capable of reflecting the atmosphere and many facets of today's global culture," Van Dyk said in a statement about the new set. As for the DVD, it "shows first and foremost the music and how people worldwide react to it. I am a part in the whole process, and I and very happy to be able to be that part."
The DVD's primary footage was culled from more than 40 hours of video, including Van Dyk performances, interviews, and fan statements. It also boasts five original music videos, two Van Dyk-soundtracked movie trailers, and a CD-ROM package. The CD features the unreleased tracks "Animacion" -- from the Mexican film "Zudro" -- and "My World." Both discs were mixed in 5.1 surround sound.
In other news, Van Dyk, Tall Paul, and a DJ set from the Crystal Method will highlight the second Giant Village New Year's Eve Celebration, to be held on Flower Street between 5th and 6th Streets in downtown Los Angeles. Other acts confirmed to appear include Danny Howells, Mark Farina, Luke Fair, Jason Bentley, and DJ Colette.
The performance will be one of two by Van Dyk on New Year's Eve, as he travels to San Francisco later that night for a set at the Cow Palace.
Here is the tracklist for "Global":
"We Are Alive"
"Tell Me Why (The Riddle)," featuring St. Etienne
