2016: The Year in Charts

Bob Dylan Shares Track List for 'Fallen Angels,' His Great American Songbook Covers Album

From composing music with an IBM computer to releasing a 14-minute song about the Titanic (the ship and the film), folk-rock poet Bob Dylan has gotten increasingly unpredictable with age. So when it was revealed his 2015 album would be an all Frank Sinatra covers affair, we raised our eyebrows but accepted that at this point in his culture-changing career, Dylan has nothing left to prove and can do damn well what he pleases.

Bob Dylan Announces Tour With Mavis Staples

Well, Dylan has managed to surprise once again by deciding to make his 2016 album, Fallen Angels, another covers LP. Only instead of Ol' Blue Eyes ditties, Dylan is taking on various Great American Songbook classics written by the likes of Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Sammy Cahn and Carolyn Leigh. Zimmerman recorded the 12 tracks with his backing band in Capitol Studios in Hollywood (a fitting choice given the era these tunes hail from) last year.

Take a listen to his version of "Melancholy Mood," the 1939 b-side to Sinatra's first-ever single, below, and check out the full Fallen Angels track list beneath that. Anyone who buys a ticket to his upcoming tour will receive a CD copy of the album.
