Legendary rock outfit King Crimson has set March 4 as the release date for its latest studio album, "The Power To Believe." The follow-up to the 2000 "ConstruKtion of Light" (Virgin), the album will be released worldwide by Sanctuary, except in Japan where Universal will release the set.

Although it was recorded over the summer, the majority of the album was conceived earlier this year while the band was on tour with contemporary progressive hard rock act Tool. "[Founding guitarist] Robert [Fripp] considers an album to be the end of a chapter and a tour to be the start of a chapter, which is the opposite way most musicians work," drummer Pat Mastelotto said in a statement. "The songs are worked out and perfected on tour before they are recorded for an album."

The group -- which is rounded out by guitarist/vocalist Adrian Belew and bassist Trey Gunn -- worked with producer Machine (White Zombie, Pitchshifter) on the set, which was recorded at the Tracking Room in Nashville. "The Power To Believe" will be supported with a tour in the New Year, with seven Japanese dates already on the board for April.

In October, Sanctuary released the studio EP "Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With," which included "Eyes Wide Open," a song that also appears on "The Power To Believe."

Here is "The Power To Believe" track list:

"The Power To Believe I: A Cappella"
"Level Five"
"Eyes Wide Open"
"Elektrik"
"The Power to Believe II"
