Massachusetts-based hard rock quartet Cave In is finishing up its RCA debut, "Antenna," and is shooting to release the set March 18. The first single will be "Anchor" and will be augmented with a video shot by director Dean Karr (Queens Of The Stone Age, Dave Matthews Band). A commercial single will be issued in two versions: one with the music video and the cut "Devil's Head Pinata," the other with live takes of the tunes "Stained Silver" and "Lift-Off."
As previously reported, "Antenna" was produced by Rich Costey (Bowery Electric, Rival Schools, Pavement). It was teased in October with the six-song "Tides of Tomorrow" EP, released via the independent Hydra Head label. Hydra Head will release the vinyl edition of "Antenna," according to Cave In's official Web site.
The group has also recorded covers of Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused" and Codeine's "Cave-In" for use on as-yet-undetermined releases. Of the former, guitarist Stephen Brodsky writes, "[it's] me and [guitarist] Adam [McGrath] wanking on some sloppy out-of-key guitar solos that would probably make Jimmy Page vomit up half of his rib cage in disgust."
On the heels of a fall European tour with Foo Fighters, Cave In will spend most of January and February playing shows on the continent. A Feb. 8 concert at London's Astoria is sponsored by U.K. music magazine NME and will also feature Idlewild, My Morning Jacket, and the Beatings.
