Allison Moorer got a lift from special guests Kid Rock and her sister, Shelby Lynne, while taping an upcoming concert album Saturday night in Nashville during a pair of shows at the 12th & Porter club. Rock and Moorer teamed up on "Bully Jones" from the latter's 2002 Universal South album "Miss Fortune," while Lynne joined her sister for "Is Heaven Good Enough For You," "Bring Me All Your Loving," and "Goin' Down."
Nashville artist Lonesome Bob also guested with Moorer on the track "No Next Time." The as-yet-untitled live album, produced by R.S. Field, is expected in April. It will feature songs recorded at both shows, where Moorer performed several brand new songs, as well as past favorites such as the Academy Award-nominated "Soft Place To Fall," "Alabama Song," and "Send Down an Angel."
Moorer is continuing to reap success from a prior duet with Kid Rock on his track "Picture," which they performed at last year's Farm Aid. A commercial single for the cut is No. 1 on Billboard's Country Singles Sales chart this week.
Moorer is preparing to hit the road as a support act on the Chieftains' North American tour, which bows Jan. 13 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Dates are booked through March 16 in Philadelphia.
