Australian rock quartet the Vines have confirmed a spring North American tour, beginning March 18 in Vancouver and wrapping April 19 in Atlanta. The group recently wrapped a stint on the annual Big Day Out tour of Australia and New Zealand. After the U.S. dates, the Vines are expected to play a handful of European shows, beginning April 23 in London.

The group is touring in support of its Capitol debut, "Highly Evolved," which debuted in August at No. 11 on The Billboard 200. The single "Get Free" reached No. 7 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, while "Outtathaway" peaked at No. 19 on the same tally.

The Vines will be wielding a host of new songs intended for inclusion on their sophomore album, which bassist Patrick Matthews told Billboard.com could be out this year. "Everybody talks about the really hi-fi, but I want to do it mid-fi," he said. "There are those things about recording in a non hi-fi manner that are cool and energetic that I want to capture. Just something exciting and visceral."

As it did last fall, Capitol labelmate the Music will support on all but the first North American date. The group, which will open for Coldplay in North America from Feb. 24-March 13, will see its self-titled debut released on Feb. 25.
