With eight mentions, Toby Keith is at the top of the final nominees list for the 38th annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. Alan Jackson isn't far behind with six nominations for the awards, which will be held May 21 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and broadcast live on CBS.

Keith and Jackson will go head-to-head in the entertainer of the year and top male vocalist categories. Others vying for the former are Kenny Chesney (who is nominated for five ACM Awards), the Dixie Chicks (three), and Brooks & Dunn (two). Trick Pony is also nominated for five awards.

Keith's other nominations are for album of the year for his DreamWorks set "Unleashed"; single record, song, and video of the year for "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)"; vocal event of the year for his duet with Willie Nelson, "Beer for My Horses"; and again in the video of the year category for "Who's Your Daddy." Because he is listed as both the artist and co-producer in four of the categories, it's possible he could go home with 11 trophies if he wins in all that he is nominated.

Jackson's six nominations are rounded out by an album of the year nod for "Drive" (Arista Nashville), song and video of the year mention for "Drive (For Daddy Gene)," and vocal event of the year with George Strait for their song "Designated Drinker." Because he's the composer and artist listed in the song of the year category, he could walk away with as many as seven trophies.

Brooks & Dunn, Lonestar, and Wynonna are the nominees for the fan-voted Home Depot Humanitarian Award, which will be presented for the second time. Last year, Reba McEntire -- who will reprise her role as host this year -- was the recipient of the inaugural honor and a HomeDepot/KaBOOM! playground was built in Atoka, Okla., in her name.

Fans can vote for the 2003 Humanitarian Award nominee of their choice on the Home Depot Web site, with the poll slated to stay open into the second hour of the CBS telecast. The winner will be announced during the final hour of the ceremony.
