Power pop outfit Fountains Of Wayne has signed a new deal with EMI's S-Curve Records which will be crowned with the June 3 release of the group's third album, "Welcome Interstate Managers." Fountains Of Wayne had been without a label deal for several years after parting company with Atlantic, which released its first two sets: 1996's "Fountains Of Wayne" and 1999's "Utopia Parkway."

"Welcome Interstate Managers," which has been in the can for months, finds Fountains Of Wayne mainmen Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood abetted by such guests as guitarist Robert Randolph and former Smashing Pumpkins axeman James Iha. The set features no shortage of the group's signature melodic hooks, particularly on the cut "Stacy's Mom."

In other news, Fountains Of Wayne will appear as animated characters in the upcoming VH1 animated series "Hey Joel," due to begin airing later this year. The group has also penned the opening theme for the show and will contribute two original songs per episode. Fountains Of Wayne previously dipped its toe into the theme song waters by writing the music for the Comedy Central show "Crank Yankers."
