Pop artist Stacie Orrico has landed a part on an upcoming episode of the nostalgic NBC series "American Dreams." She'll have an acting role and sing the Angels' 1963 No. 1 Billboard single "My Boyfriend's Back" with the show's teenage female leads, Brittany Snow (Meg) and Vanessa Lengies (Roxanne). The 16-year-old artist's version of the song is also slated to appear on an upcoming "American Dreams" soundtrack album.
As previously reported, LeAnn Rimes, Duncan Sheik, B2K, and Vivian Green are also set to appear on "American Dreams" during the balance of the acclaimed show's first season. Rimes will be the first to bow in Sunday's (March 30) episode, in which she'll portray Connie Francis and perform "Where the Boys Are."
Orrico's self-titled sophomore album is released today (March 25) via Forefront/Virgin. The set features the single "Stuck," which is No. 22 on Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and No. 28 on the Top 40 Mainstream tally.
Since debuting on March 17, the video for "Stuck" has been a regular on MTV's daily series "Total Request Live," recently making a jump to No. 7 on the show's countdown. Orrico, who had an opening slot on Destiny's Child's 2001 tour, is slated to appear on April 3 on "TRL" to promote her new album.
"Stacie Orrico" is the follow-up to the artist's 2000 debut album, "Genuine" (Forefront/Chordant). That set bowed at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.
