The third album in the Red Star Sounds series, released through the non-profit Heineken Music Initiative in a joint venture with Island Def Jam Music Group, is due in August. The album, to be titled "Red Star Sounds, Vol. 3: Def Jamaica," will feature reggae stars and hip-hop artists collaborating on tracks.

Some of the collaborations slated for the album include Method Man and Redman working on a track with Stephen and Damian Marley, Scarface and Nokio from Dru Hill recording with T.K.O., Capone & Norega teaming with Jamaican DJ Lexxus, and Cam'ron getting together with Buju Banton. More collaborations are expected; the final track list has yet to be set.

Proceeds from the album will benefit music education programs across the U.S., as did previous editions "Red Star Sounds Volume I: Soul Searchin'" and "Red Star Presents Vol. 2: B-Sides."

The former -- featuring cuts by the likes of Erykah Badu, Nelly Furtado, Macy Gray, India.Arie, Jill Scott, and Amel Larrieux featuring the Roots -- peaked in November 2001 at No. 29 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The latter boasted contributions from Foxy Brown, N.O.R.E., DMX, WC, and Ja Rule and debuted at No. 51 on the same chart a year later.
