Jam band moe. has added the Flaming Lips to the bill for its fourth annual moe.down festival. Slated for Aug. 29-31 at the Snow Ridge Ski area in Turin, N.Y., the event will also feature Rusted Root and the Yonder Mountain String Band on the main stage and more bands yet to be announced.
Along with six sets by moe., attendees can also look forward to performances by moe. side projects Al & the Transamericans and Swamp Donkey. The former is frontman Al Schnier's country-leaning group, while the latter is a group organized by bassist Rob Derhak.
The event's second stage will boast Nero, Penny Joe Pullis, Om Trio, Jimmy Swift Band, Marlow, Guy Malone, Truffle Bluff, and Lynch. Tickets for moe.down are on sale online through moe.ticketing (which can be accessed through the band's official Web site) and Ticketmaster.
Leading up to its festival, moe. has a host of summer gigs on tap, including June 15 at Tennessee's second Bonnaroo event, and Aug. 9 at the inaugural Bonnaroo NE in Calverton, N.Y.
Other highlights of the band's itinerary include opening for the Dave Matthews Band June 17-18 in Columbus, Ohio, June 20 in Buffalo, N.Y., and June 21 in Cleveland. Moe. will also open for the Dead June 29 in Vernon, N.Y., and the Dead and Bob Dylan Aug. 2 in Joliet, Ill.
The group is out on the road in support of its latest iMusic album, "Wormwood," which debuted in February at No. 7 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.
Finally, moe. is planning to sail with fans on its own Caribbean cruise between March 7-14, 2004. The group will perform on the ship throughout the week in between visits to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.
