Sony Music has signed an exclusive worldwide deal with System Of A Down guitarist Daron Malakian, to market, promote, and distribute his new EatUrMusic label. Hard rock group Amen is the first signing to the imprint and will release an album later this year.

"I honestly feel that if you're going to sign an artist, the most important thing is that you've really got to be like one of those kids in their audience," Malakian said in a statement. "I will only sign and work with those artists that I'm a fan of."

Amen, fronted by Casey Chaos, is recording its EatUrMusic/Columbia debut with producer Mike Frasier (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica) and Malakian. The album will be the band's third, following a self-titled 1999 album on Roadrunner and the 2000 Virgin release "We Have Come for Your Parents."

Last fall, Columbia also struck a label deal with System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian. The first release under his Serjical Strike/Columbia imprint was a self-titled album by Serart, a collaboration between Tankian and multi-instrumentalist Arto Tuncboyaciyan.
