MTV is putting its "You Hear It First" franchise out on the road with a pair of brief tours: one rock, one hip-hop. Sponsored by Coca-Cola, the rock leg will kick off July 15 in Los Angeles, while the hip-hop showcase will get underway July 27 in New York.

The rock trek will feature Kenna, the Exies and Fiction Plane. Kenna's debut album, "New Sacred Cow," was released late last month by Columbia, while the Exies' sophomore set, "Inertia," was issued in January through Virgin.

In March, MCA released "Everything Will Never Be OK," the debut album from Fiction Plane, fronted by Sting's son Joe Sumner.

The hip-hop leg of the tour will sport performances by Common, Anthony Hamilton, Bubba Sparxxx and Jin. Common, who stars with Mya in a television commercial for Coke, will be touring in support of his late-2002 MCA album "Electric Circus." Sparxxx's most recent release is his 2001 debut "Dark Days, Bright Nights" (Interscope).

Jin, who appears in the recently released film "2 Fast 2 Furious," will release his Ruff Ryders/Virgin debut in August. Hamilton's debut, "Comin' From Where I'm From," is due Aug. 26 through Arista. He has previously been heard on releases by Nappy Roots, Eve and D'Angelo.
