Joe Jackson's "Night and Day" will be re-released July 29 by A&M/UME. The "deluxe edition" of the 1982 album has been digitally remastered from the original analog master tapes, and is expanded with a second disc of demos and live tracks.

Jackson's fifth studio album, the New York-inspired "Night and Day" reached No. 4 on Billboard's album chart, the best of his career. Although it continued his exploration of musical genres, the set found the artist eschewing the upbeat material of his first four albums. The contemplative set spawned the singles "Steppin' Out" and "Breaking Us in Two," which reached No. 6 and No. 18, respectively, on the Hot 100.

The second disc includes demos of six of the album's songs, including "Steppin' Out" and "Breaking Us in Two." Also featured are five tracks from Jackson's first soundtrack foray, 1983's "Mike's Murder," and five from the 1988 album "Joe Jackson Live 1980/86." The live cuts, all recorded in Sydney across the final two nights of his 1983 world tour in support of "Night and Day," include "Look Sharp!" and an a cappella rendition of "Is She Really Going Out With Him."

Last year, A&M/UME issued deluxe versions of Jackson's 1979 debut, "Look Sharp!," and its quick follow-up, "I'm the Man."

Jackson reunited the band that backed him on his first four albums -- bassist Graham Maby, guitarist Gary Sanford and drummer Dave Houghton -- to record "Volume 4," released in March via Restless/Ryko. Following a spring U.S. run, the unit is in Europe through early August and will kick off a second U.S. tour Aug. 9 in Hartford.

"I wasn't sure that they would [consider reuniting]," Jackson admitted to Billboard earlier this year. "[But] they were all so enthusiastic. I mean, just blown away. They couldn't believe it, because no one thought that I would ever do this, including me, especially me!"
