Legendary producer Quincy Jones will help organize the first-ever Legends of Los Angeles Pop concert, to be held on New Year's Eve at the open-air County Mall area in downtown Los Angeles, with the new Disney Concert Hall as a backdrop.

The concert will feature music on three to four stages by artists to be announced, City Councilwoman Jan Perry said in announcing Jones' involvement. The city hopes 30,000 people will attend. "We hope the acts will appeal to a broad range of age groups," said Carol Schatz, president of organizing group the Downtown Center Business Improvement District.

Large-scale New Year's Eve parties in the sprawling city have fizzled in the past, and Perry said officials are hoping to turn that around with the high-profile concert in a centralized location.

Tickets will cost $15, and some of the proceeds will go to Jones' Listen Up foundation, which supports children's health care programs. It is not known if Jones plans to perform at the event.
