The Red Hot Chili Peppers have tacked on a fourth leg to their North American tour. New dates begin Oct. 8 with the Flaming Lips and Mike Watt in tow; Watt will be the sole opener on three Canadian dates beginning Oct. 23 in Vancouver. As previously reported, the Peppers are currently on the road with Queens Of The Stone Age and French Toast and will play Washington, D.C., tomorrow (Sept. 6).

The group recently put 15 new songs to tape while in the studio to record new tracks for "Greatest Hits," due Nov. 11. The set is expected to collect material from the group's Warner Bros. releases, beginning with 1991's "Blood Sugar Sex Magik."

The Chili Peppers are out in support of last year's "By the Way," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 1.7 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
