A nine-date European tour will get underway Dec. 1 in Glasgow, with a more extensive itinerary to follow next year.
The Strokes continue to expand their fall tour slate. Sixteen North American dates are on tap with Kings Of Leon, beginning Oct. 9-10 in Upper Darby, Pa., and including an Oct. 29-30 stand in their New York hometown at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden. A nine-date European tour will get underway Dec. 1 in Glasgow, with a more extensive itinerary to follow next year.
Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas tells Billboard.com he "can't wait" to hit the road armed with the 11 new songs from "Room on Fire," due Oct. 21 via RCA. "I'm thinking the shows will obviously be longer, because it's not like we're going to play the whole new record and then get off stage," he says. "There's definitely going to be a few songs off [the group's 2001 debut] 'Is This It' that I don't really feel like playing, at least not for a little while."
Guitarist Nick Valensi says cuts like "The End Has No End," "Automatic Stop," "Under Control" and "What Ever Happened?" have yet to be played live. "We've played them live in our rehearsal studio and we've got faith in them, but never in front of an audience," he says. "That's why I'm really looking forward to getting back out on the road, because we've got a bit of a repertoire now."
