Britney Spears, Metallica, Alan Jackson, Ashanti and Hilary Duff are the first artists confirmed to perform on the 31st American Music Awards. The event will be held Nov. 16 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. ABC will broadcast the show live.

As previously reported, Justin Timberlake, Kid Rock, Ashanti, R. Kelly, Beyonce, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Shania Twain, 50 Cent and Sean Paul are all multiple nominees for this year's ceremony.
