Coldplay Nabs Four Q Award Nominations

With four nods, including a mention in the best act in the world category, Coldplay heads the nominations for this year's Q Awards.

With four nods, including a mention in the best act in the world category, Coldplay heads the nominations for this year's Q Awards. The British band is also nominated in the best live act category, while its hits "Clocks" and "The Scientist" are up for best single and best video honors, respectively.

Challenging Coldplay for the best act title are Blur, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, and the winner on each of the past two occasions, Radiohead.

The winners, chosen by Q readers, will be unveiled Oct. 2 at London's Park Lane Hotel. The prestigious lifetime achievement, inspiration and classical songwriter awards will be decided by Q staff. TV personality Iain Lee will host the event.

Rock act Muse garnered three nominations, including best single and best video, for "Time Is Running Out." The group is also in the running for the innovation award. Closely behind are Christina Aguilera, Blur, the Darkness, Electric Six, Radiohead, the White Stripes and 50 Cent with two nominations apiece.
