WhoSampled Integrates with Spotify for iPhone App
The music sample sourcing service WhoSampled has announced a new integration with Spotify that will allow listeners to discover the inspirations and origins of songs through the digital streaming service.
A new version of the music discovery service's iPhone app integrates Spotify's catalog to allow users to scan their music to reveal the original tracks behind new songs, as well as modern interpretations of old songs, adding them directly into their Spotify playlists. Premium Spotify subscribers may also stream songs through the WeSampled App.
For example, anyone searching Kanye West's new Kendrick Lamar-featuring "No More Parties in L.A." will discover the 1976 funk track "Suzie Thundertussy" by former Parliament-Funkadelic member Junie Morrison. Or searching Michael Jackson's classic "Smooth Criminal" will link users to Lamar's "King Kunta," among others.
"WhoSampled's unique flavor of discovery is essential for anyone looking to learn more about their music," CEO and Founder of WhoSampled Nadav Poraz said in a statement. "We are excited to be enabling Spotify's massive audience of dedicated music lovers to enjoy the WhoSampled experience seamlessly with their personal music collections for the first time."
The WeSampled iPhone app sells for $3.99 and the company plans to release an Android app later this year.
