Kelly Clarkson on Donald Trump: 'I Am Legitimately Frightened for Our Nation'
It all started when Bette Midler tweeted about that Donald Trump quote from over the weekend. You know, the one where he said he could shoot someone in the middle of New York's Fifth Avenue and not lose any votes in the upcoming presidential primary.
How can we live with a POTUS for four years who says things like "I could walk down Fifth Ave., shoot someone, and still not lose any votes?— Bette Midler (@BetteMidler) January 25, 2016
Well, he's definitely not getting Kelly Clarkson's vote after that statement. The original American Idol winner responded to Midler's tweet, and she's not impressed.
@BetteMidler I am legitimately frightened for our nation.— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) January 26, 2016
For a refresher, here's Trump's comment in action:
In an interview on Monday (Jan. 25), Trump walked back the comment, telling CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer "of course, I was joking."
Clarkson has made her political views known over the years, singing at President Obama's most recent inauguration and tweeting about her respect for then-presidential candidate Ron Paul (and getting some backlash in the process).
