Brian Wilson's 50th Anniversary Celebration of 'Pet Sounds' Expands to World Tour

It was on May 16, 1966 when the Beach BoysPet Sounds was released, soon becoming one of the most influential albums of the 1960s and beyond, and to mark the album's 50th anniversary, Brian Wilson is hitting the road.

Joined by former bandmates Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, Wilson and Co. will travel to Australia, Japan, United Kingdom, Spain, Israel and Portugal in addition to U.S. cities coast-to-coast. More than 70 dates are confirmed, with additional shows being added.

Brian Wilson Has Never Heard of Punk Rock

In announcing the tour, it is noted that Wilson will "celebrate and perform the iconic album for a final time."

Says Wilson, now 73: “It’s really been a trip to sit here and think about releasing Pet Sounds 50 years ago. I love performing this album with my band and look forward to playing it for fans all across the world.”

In addition to Wilson's time with the Beach Boys, the songwriter-producer-singer has also released 11 solo albums. His 2004 release Brian Wilson Presents… SMiLE and subsequent The SMiLE Sessions both won Grammy Awards.
