VH1 is planning to celebrate this Christmas with an unlikely source of holiday cheer: Detroit-based rap/rocker Kid Rock. The cable music-video network has set a Dec. 14 airdate (9 p.m. ET) for "A Kid Rock Christmas," a variety show featuring performances by Rock and special guests.

Performances will be filmed Tuesday (Nov. 4) at Detroit's Emerald Theater and edited into a 90-minute edition for TV. Also set to perform are burlesque revival troupe the Pussycat Dolls, featuring Carmen Electra and Robin Anton. Other performers will be announced soon.

"A Kid Rock Christmas" will also boast an animated segment featuring Rock's version of the traditional "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and a Christmas dinner "Detroit style" cooked by Rock's mother for the likes of Hank Williams Jr., actress Drea DeMatteo ("The Sopranos") and motorcycle maker Jesse James.

As previously reported, Rock's new, self-titled album is due Nov. 11 from Lava/Atlantic. The first single is a cover of Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love."
