Due to throat ailments suffered by singer Aaron Lewis, Staind has been forced to cancel and postpone several shows on its U.S. tour. Lewis has throat polyps and severely swollen vocal chords and doctors have insisted he needs time for medication to take effect and prevent permanent damage. The band hopes to pick up the tour again Nov. 11 in Spokane, Wash., with Sevendust in tow.

Shows slated for last night (Nov. 5) and tonight at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre have been rescheduled as a single Nov. 13 show at a bigger venue, the Palladium. Saturday's planned Sacramento show has been moved to Nov. 15. Original tickets for all three shows will be honored on the new dates.

According to a statement, tour routing prevents several planned concerts from being rescheduled. Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase for scheduled stops in San Jose, Calif. (Nov. 9), Boise, Idaho (Nov. 12), Salt Lake City (Nov. 13), Fargo, N.D. (Nov. 17) and Pittsburgh (Nov. 22).

Staind is slated to play eight shows through the end of the year, including radio station-sponsored holiday events in St. Paul, Minn. (Nov. 18, KXXR's "Butterball") and Denver (Dec. 11, KBPI's "Misteltoe Jam").

The band is touring in support of its Elektra set "14 Shades of Grey." Released in May, the set debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200. The single "So Far Away" has topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for 14 weeks, while its seven, non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Modern Rock Tracks tally is the longest run of the year for any title on top of that list.

Here is Staind's revised tour itinerary:

Nov. 11: Spokane, Wash. (Spokane Convention Center)
Nov. 13: Los Angeles (Palladium)
Nov. 15: Sacramento, Calif. (Memorial Auditorium)
Nov. 18: St. Paul, Minn. (Roy Wilkins Auditorium; KXXR "Butterball")
Nov. 20: Chicago (Aragon Ballroom)
Nov. 21: Detroit (State Theatre)
Nov. 24: Orlando, Fla. (Hard Rock Live)
Dec. 11: Denver (Fillmore; KBPI "Misteltoe Jam")
