MAKJ Launches His Own KENZ Label & Premieres 'Get Whoa' Track: Exclusive
California native Mackenzie Johnson, or MAKJ, has been immersed in dance music ever since the ripe age of 15, when he discovered a passion for DJing.
A decade later, the big-room DJ and producer has armored himself with a slew of Beatport top 10 releases, performances at prestigious festivals including Ultra and Coachella, and a coveted spot on DJ Mag’s latest Top 100 list.
Billboard is excited to premiere the announcement of MAKJ’s own imprint, KENZ, along with its debut release "Get Whoa." Watch the video below:
“When someone really supported my music, I realized I could make it as an artist,” he reflects. “That’s the whole point of this record label. Helping other artists out there grow into what they want to become.”
"Get Whoa" is an aggressive thumping track by the chief himself and New Orleans-based rapper Fly Boi Keno, who was previously featured on Jack U’s record "Beats Knockin'."
