Alter Bridge -- the new band featuring former Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and original bassist Brian Marshall plus former Mayfield Four vocalist Myles Kennedy, will kick off its debut tour Sept. 23 in Pontiac, Mich. The trek is expected to run into December.

Alter Bridge's Wind-Up debut, "One Day Remains," is due Aug. 10. First single "Open You Eyes" is No. 9 after five weeks on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Even though Tremonti co-wrote Creed's hits and is proud of his past, he sees the band mainly in his rearview mirror. "We're not ever going to play Creed songs," he told Billboard recently. "We're trying to skate away from all the Creed comparisons or anything from the past. We just want Alter Bridge to be a fine band."

In related news, the first solo single from Creed frontman Scott Stapp, "Relearn Love," will debut today (Aug. 2) on AOL Music. The cut is drawn from the album "Passion of the Christ: Songs," due Aug. 31 via Wind-Up.
