Destiny's Child, Mary J. Blige, Elton John, Toby Keith and Lenny Kravitz will perform live as part of the National Football League's "Opening Kickoff" television special next month. The event will air Sept. 9 on ABC, just prior to the first game of the season between the Indianapolis Colts and 2003 Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.

In addition, Jessica Simpson will perform at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville, Fla., the site of the 2004 Super Bowl. Additional artists to be announced will join her at the free concert.

"Opening Kickoff" continues the NFL's season-starting music-related events. Last year's special featured Blige, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin and Britney Spears, while the 2002 campaign began with a free show in New York's Times Square with Bon Jovi, Enrique Iglesias, Alicia Keys and Eve.
