'History' Never Repeats
Country veteran Travis Tritt returns this week with a new Columbia studio album, "My Honky Tonk History." The 12-track album is led by the single "The Girl's Gone Wild," which peaked at No. 31 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
"History" marks the fourth time in a row Tritt has co-produced an album with Billy Joe Walker Jr. Several guests appear on the set, including John Mellencamp and labelmate Gretchen Wilson. The latter co-wrote and sings backing vocals on album track "Gone to Far To Turn Around."
Tritt says the album is "a throwback to the more rocking side of what I've done throughout my career. There are some very straight-ahead country ballads, but more of the 'T-R-O-U-B-L-E' and 'Put Some Drive in Your Country' kind of songs than I've ever had on one [project.] It's a real summertime album."
"My Honky Tonk History" is the follow-up to 2002's "Strong Enough," which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and No. 27 on The Billboard 200.
