Art-punk icons Wire have unearthed tapes from a 1979 interview and performance on the German television show "Rockpalast," and will release them as a combo DVD/CD Oct. 26 through the band's own Pinkflag label. The label claims the document is the only existing television footage of Wire.

Taped Feb. 14, 1979, "Wire on the Box" finds band members Colin Newman, Graham Lewis, Robert Grey and Bruce Gilbert in the midst of a critically acclaimed early period. In addition to a host of tracks from the group's first two albums, "Pink Flag" and "Chairs Missing," nearly half of the performance's 19 songs are culled from "154," which had yet to be recorded.

Both the CD and the DVD include the performance in its entirety, and the latter also boasts the program's 20-minute introductory interview with the band by host Alan Bang.
