With the season waning, music fans have identified Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman" as the unofficial anthem of the summer. The country newcomer's trailer park theme pulled in 25% of 8,626 votes in a Billboard.com poll, besting her nearest competitor by a healthy margin.
A former No. 1 track on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, "Redneck Woman" stems from Wilson's debut Epic Nashville album, "Here for the Party." Released in May, the set bowed at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and No. 2 on The Billboard 200. It has sold 1.7 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Runner-up in the poll was modern rock act Modest Mouse's "Float On," with 17% of the vote. Terror Squad's "Lean Back" pulled in third with 11%.
