The project is due Nov. 16 in North America via Rhino; release dates are still being hammered out in other territories.

As tipped here earlier this month, Peter Gabriel has wrapped work on a career-spanning DVD collection, "Play." The project is due Nov. 16 in North America via Rhino; release dates are still being hammered out in other territories, according to Gabriel's official Web site.

"Play" will sport 23 videos, including such iconic clips as "Sledgehammer" and "Shock the Monkey," and new 5.1 audio mixes by Gabriel and Daniel Lanois. Each video is amended with a short introduction that includes "making of" footage and/or comments from Gabriel. Fans can also create a customized playlist of up to 18 videos that can be played once or saved for posterity.

Bonus materials range from videos for "Modern Love," "The Nest That Sailed the Sky" and a 2004 live version of "Games Without Frontiers" to trailers for prior Gabriel video releases such as "Secret World Live" and "Growing Up Live."

"The project has been on the cards for some time, and now seems to be the perfect timing," Gabriel told Billboard.com earlier this month. "Daniel is doing mixes that will sometimes sound better than the originals. For a musician, it is fantastic to have access to 5.1 technology. It is a much wider sound -- there's more clarity."
