Teen popster JoJo, who enjoyed a summer hit with the single "Leave (Get Out)," is in talks to make her feature film debut opposite Nickelodeon star Emma Roberts ("Unfabulous") in the mermaid comedy "Aquamarine."

Based on the Alice Hoffman novel, the Fox project revolves around two teenage girls who discover a mermaid in their beach club's swimming pool. The role of the mermaid has yet to be cast. Shooting will start in February.

As previously reported, JoJo will appear in the Nov. 21 episode of NBC's "American Dreams," playing a young Linda Ronstadt auditioning for "American Bandstand."

In July, "Leave (Get Out)" reached No. 12 on Billboard's Hot 100. The single comes from JoJo's self-titled Da Family/Blackground debut album, which opened at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 673,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Second single "Baby It's You" featuring Bow Wow is No. 58 in its third week on the Hot 100.

JoJo will be promoting her album with upcoming television appearances on the syndicated "Tony Danza Show" (Oct. 19) and the WB's "Steve Harvey's Big Time" (Nov. 21).
