Modern country duo Montgomery Gentry and stalwart Southern rock act Lynyrd Skynyrd will meet on an upcoming episode of "CMT Crossroads." The performance will be taped at an undisclosed Nashville location in front of an invitation-only audience. The episode will premiere Dec. 10 on the cable music channel.

The "Crossroads" meeting should will be a warm-up of sorts for the two groups, who will share the stage New Year's Eve in Lexington, Ky. As previously reported, the second annual Montgomery Gentry & Friends show at the Rupp Arena will also feature sets by Trace Adkins and Blue County.

An occasional CMT series, "Crossroads" pairs like-minded, though rarely combined artists on stage to play each other's music and share stories. Among the previous participants have been Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams, Kid Rock and Hank Williams Jr., Dave Matthews and Emmylou Harris and John Mayer and Brad Paisley.
