MTV has signed Nick Lachey and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker to star in their own reality shows, which are expected to premiere next year.

MTV has signed Nick Lachey and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker to star in their own reality shows, which are expected to premiere next year.

Lachey's show has the working title "The Nick Lachey Project" and will focus on his attempts to launch a solo career. Lachey's debut solo album, "SoulO" (Universal), peaked at No. 51 on The Billboard 200 upon its November 2003 release. It has sold 160,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Meanwhile, Lachey will continue to star with his wife, Jessica Simpson, in "Newlyweds," which MTV has renewed for a third season. MTV has also renewed "The Ashlee Simpson Show," whose second season will feature the singer's first tour and her infamous "Saturday Night Live" performance. New seasons of both will premiere on 2005 dates to be announced.

As for Barker, the drummer, his wife (former Miss USA Shanna Moakler) and their family will be featured in "Meet the Barkers." According to MTV, the series will feature the couple attending events such Playboy parties and family get-togethers.
