2002 - Singer Dionne Warwick is arrested when baggage screeners at Miami International Airport claim to find 11 suspected marijuana cigarettes inside her lipstick container. Warwick, 61, of Miami Beach, is charged with possession of less than 5 grams of marijuana. She signs an affidavit promising to appear in court and is released.

2001 - Darryl Worley marries longtime girlfriend Beverly Dean Irvin on the steps of the courthouse in Worley's hometown of Savannah, Tenn.

2001 - Perry Como dies at his home in Florida. He is 87. The legendary crooner dies in his sleep after a long illness. He charts 82 pop hits through 1952, and counts among his 11 No. 1 songs "Catch a Falling Star," which received the RIAA's first-ever gold record.

1999 - George Jones pleads guilty in Franklin, Tenn., to driving while impaired and violating the state's open-container law, in charges stemming from his near-fatal March 6 car accident. Jones, who gets to keep his driver's license, is fined $550.
