Dwight Yoakam will release a new, as-yet untitled studio album for New West this year, with a tour to follow. "The album should be ready for release around springtime," Yoakam said in a message on his official Web site. "I'm back in the studio now finishing the vocals. Although I did play a few isolated shows last year with my band, it looks as if we will be playing a full tour this summer."

Yoakam's most recent studio album was 2003's "Population: Me," which debuted at No. 7 on Billboard's Top Country Albums tally. Last year, he released the compilations "Dwight's Used Records" and "The Very Best of Dwight Yoakam."

In addition, the artist says he will appearing in three movies this year, including "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada," a film starring and directed by Tommy Lee Jones. He also stars in "Bandidas" with Penelope Cruz and Selma Hayek and has a cameo in "Wedding Crashers" featuring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn.
