Merge labelmates Spoon and the Clientele will spend the month of June on a North American tour, beginning June 1 in Atlanta. Spoon will be out in support of its new album, "Gimme Fiction," due May 10. The set is the follow-up to 2002's "Kill the Moonlight," which debuted at No. 23 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and has sold 83,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Beforehand, Spoon will support Interpol during an April tour of Europe that begins April 6 in Dublin. Spoon frontman Britt Daniel previously remixed the Interpol single "Slow Hands," released last year in the United Kingdom. The group is also confirmed for an April 30 appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.
As for the Clientele, the U.K. rock trio is mixing its next Merge album, but no release date has been announced. According to the band's official Web site, several tracks feature a string quartet arranged and conducted by Louis Philippe.
