Green Day will be commanding the biggest stages of its career later this year when the it headlines a trio of stadium shows as part of its planned summer North American tour. On the books are shows on Sept. 1 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., Sept. 24 at San Francisco's SBC Park and Oct. 8 at Los Angeles' Home Depot Center.

Tickets for the New Jersey and Los Angeles shows go on sale Saturday (April 9), while the San Francisco date goes on sale Sunday. One day online pre-sales will be conducted through Cinder Block Ticketing tomorrow (April 6) for SBC Park and Friday for Giants Stadium. At deadline, an L.A. pre-sale was not confirmed.

Following an appearance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, Green Day has a slate North American dates that pick up April 15 in Coral Gables, Fla., and run through an May 20 show in Calgary. The band has European dates on tap in June and July, including a pair of sold-out shows at England's Milton Keynes Bowl stadium, after which as-yet-unannounced North American dates will resume.

The tour activity comes in support of last year's "American Idiot," which debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold nearly 3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Following the hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and the title track, third single "Holiday" is No. 3 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 18 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks tally.
