Ashanti teams with a lovable cast of Muppets for three songs on the soundtrack to "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz," due May 17 via Walt Disney Records. Ashanti also stars in the film, which will premiere April 27 at New York's Tribeca Film Festival before airing May 20 on ABC. A DVD release is scheduled for Aug. 9 by Disney.

The soundtrack features Ashanti's solo rendition of "Gotta Get Out of Kansas" and "It's a Good Life," plus a collaboration with Kermit the Frog, Gonzo, Fozzie and Pepe on "When I'm With You." It will be rounded out by such familiar Muppets tunes as "Mahna Mahna," "Rainbow Connection" and "The Muppet Show Theme."

In "Oz," Ashanti stars as Dorothy Gale, an aspiring singer who works at her Auntie Em's (Queen Latifah) Kansas diner. The film's signature tornado transports Dorothy to a Muppet-inhabited Oz, which features rats as Munchkins, Kermit the Frog as the Scarecrow, Gonzo as the Tin Man, Fozzie as the Lion and Miss Piggy as the Wicked Witch.

"Don't Leave Me Alone," the latest single from Ashanti's 2004 Def Jam album "Concrete Rose," has just been delivered to U.S. radio outlets for airplay consideration.
