‘Frozen’ Sequel Is in the Works, Idina Menzel Says
Frozen 2, anyone?
Broadway veteran Idina Menzel has confirmed that a sequel to Disney’s record-breaking 2013 animated film Frozen is in the works.
When asked by the Telegraph what she could say about rumors of a Frozen movie sequel, stage musical and an upcoming short film, Menzel responded that “they’re all in the works.”
Menzel was the voice behind Frozen's Elsa, who sang the unforgettable smash hit "Let It Go.” In addition to being the subject of countless covers, “Let It Go” also won song won Best Original Song at the Oscars in March. The Frozen soundtrack spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year.
Menzel told the Telegraph that she expects to be invited back as the voice for Elsa, but noted that she hasn’t yet signed up for the stage adaptation of Frozen.
"I don't know what will happen with that, but the movie hopefully. We'll see. I'm just going along for the ride,” she said.
The 43-year-old singer was also asked to give some advice to fans looking to tackle a cover of the inescapable “Let It Go.”
"I can't give any tips on how to sing 'Let It Go' because I barely can sing it sometimes," Menzel said. "It's really hard. I can't wake up in the morning and just sing it, you know.
“I guess my advice is everyone that likes to sing it should sing it loud and proud and karaoke it out, sing it in the shower, sing it in the car and don't worry about hitting the high notes. I'm the only one who has to worry if people are gonna criticize me."
