Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Montgomery Gentry and George Strait will take part in a television special celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Academy of Country Music (ACM). The show will be taped May 18 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, the day after the ACM Awards at the same venue. Like the awards, the special will air on CBS sometime in December.

Tickets for the taping will go on sale Saturday (April 16) via Ticketmaster and the Mandalay Bay box office.

The planned two-hour special will look back on the history of the ACM and the artists and industry figures that have played a role in its development since it was founded in 1964. Dick Clark Productions will produce the program.
